# Privacy policy

Prompt Core collects nothing. Your library stays on your devices and in your own iCloud, and we never see it. The full policy follows.

Last updated November 4, 2026

Applies to Prompt Core for macOS, iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, including its widgets, complications, keyboard, Share and Quick Look extensions, Shortcuts actions and Spotlight integration.

Prompt Core is built by Great Love (“we”). This policy describes what the app does with your information. The short version: your library stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account when you use iCloud sync or iCloud backups. We run no servers, collect no analytics and never see your prompts.

## What Prompt Core stores

Prompt Core stores the content you create in it: prompts, responses, categories, collections, tags, saved filters, version history and variable presets, together with usage counts and timestamps. It also stores your settings, such as appearance, shortcuts and privacy options.

All of this lives in the app’s own storage on your device and, as described below, in your private iCloud storage when you use iCloud sync or iCloud backups. Prompt Core has no network code of its own and does not transmit your library, your settings or any identifier to us or to any third party.

## iCloud sync

If iCloud sync is on, your library is mirrored between your devices through Apple’s CloudKit in your private iCloud database. That data is stored in your Apple Account under Apple’s terms and is not accessible to us. You can turn sync off in Settings › Sync & Data; doing so stops mirroring on that device and does not delete what is already in your iCloud. Backups have their own storage setting, described below: turning sync off does not change where backups are stored.

## Purchases

Apple processes purchases, subscription renewals and refunds through the App Store. Prompt Core verifies purchase information through StoreKit to determine Pro access and keeps a local record for offline use. Paid widgets, complications and the full-access keyboard also check access through Apple’s purchase service. We do not receive payment details or send purchase information to our own servers. Purchasing Pro and synchronizing your library use independent Apple services.

## Privacy Lock

You can protect the library with a PIN or password, or with Face ID or Touch ID through the system. A PIN or password is never stored: Prompt Core keeps only a salted verifier derived with PBKDF2 in the device keychain. Biometric matching is performed by the operating system; Prompt Core never receives biometric data.

While the library is locked, widgets, complications, the keyboard, the Share extension, Shortcuts actions and Spotlight show no library content unless you have explicitly allowed a surface to work while locked. Adding new items still works while locked: the Share extension and the Create Prompt and Save Response shortcuts save what you give them into your library without showing anything already in it, and the Share extension hides your categories unless you allow them in Settings › Privacy & Security. An unlocked session is valid for extensions for a limited time and is renewed while the app is in use; if the app is closed, extensions fail closed once that time has passed.

## Extensions and system integrations

- **Keyboard.** Typing works without Full Access. Full Access is needed only so the keyboard can read your prompts from Prompt Core’s shared storage on the same device. The keyboard does not record what you type in other apps or keep a typing history. With Full Access, it checks your Pro access through Apple’s purchase service; it does not send your typing or library content to us or any third party.
- **Widgets, complications, Shortcuts, Control Center.** These read a snapshot of your library that the app publishes into its shared container on the device, and queue actions (such as counting a use or copying a prompt) for the app to apply. Nothing leaves the device.
- **Spotlight.** If enabled, prompt and response titles and text are indexed on the device by the system so you can find them in search. The index is cleared when the library locks and can be turned off in Settings.
- **Share extension.** Text and links you share into Prompt Core are saved into your library and nowhere else.
- **Apple Watch.** Drafts dictated on the watch are transferred to your iPhone through Apple’s Watch Connectivity and saved into your library. Dictation itself is handled by watchOS under Apple’s terms.
- **Clipboard.** Copying a prompt places it on the system clipboard. You can have Prompt Core clear the clipboard after a delay in Settings › Privacy.

## Backups and export

Prompt Core can keep backups of your library: snapshots you make with Back Up Now and, if you turn them on with Prompt Core Pro, automatic backups on the schedule you choose. Automatic backups are off until you enable them.

Each backup contains your complete library, including items in Recently Deleted. It does not contain your Privacy Lock PIN, password or recovery key, or your device settings. Prompt Core does not encrypt backups with its own key or your Privacy Lock credential; they are protected by the app’s storage on your device and by Apple’s protection of your iCloud account.

By default, backups are stored in Prompt Core’s private folder in your iCloud Drive, which is available to Prompt Core on your devices signed in to the same Apple Account and is not accessible to us. If iCloud is unavailable, a backup is saved in the app’s storage on the device instead and moved to iCloud once it becomes available. To keep new backups only on your device, turn off Store in iCloud in Settings › Sync & Data. Backups already in iCloud stay there until you delete them.

Each device keeps a limited number of its own automatic backups, between 12 and 40 depending on the schedule, and deletes its older automatic backups. Backups you make with Back Up Now are kept until you delete them. You can review and delete backups from all your devices in Settings › Sync & Data › Manage Backups. Deleting the app does not remove backups stored in iCloud; remove them in Manage Backups first, or delete Prompt Core’s data from your iCloud storage in your Apple Account settings.

Exports are files you create. Exported `.promptcore`, Markdown and text files contain your library content in plain form: treat them as you would any document with your data.

## Data we receive

None. We do not collect analytics, crash reports through third-party services, advertising identifiers or usage data. If you contact us by e-mail, we receive what you send us and use it only to answer you.

## Your choices and rights

You control your data entirely: you can edit or delete any item, empty the trash, turn iCloud sync off, keep backups on the device or delete them, disable Spotlight indexing, and delete the app, which removes its local storage. Data in your iCloud account can be deleted from the app on any synced device or through your Apple Account settings.

## Children

Prompt Core is a general productivity tool and does not knowingly collect information from anyone; it is not directed at children.

## Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at the same address with a new effective date. Because Prompt Core cannot contact you, check this page when you update the app.
